Hey warmists

Tell you what. We'll stop rubbing your face in the unseasonably cold WEATHER this winter just as soon as you stop trying to claim that unseasonably hot WEATHER proves the existence of global climate change.

We understand that one day is not a trend. We understand the difference between weather and climate. But, you seem to have forgotten that we've been listening to you babble about how one hot day in August means OMFG POLAR BEARS ARE DROWNING AND LOUISVILLE WILL BE BEACHFRONT AND WE'LL HAVE NO ICE FOR OUR MARGARITAS EVER AGAIN!

And when a ship full of moronic "climate scientists" gets stuck in supposedly nonexistent ice, understand that we're going to give you some stick. Just take it with good humor for a change. I mean, it's a big fat slow pitch just hanging over home plate. Of course we're going to knock that sucker out of the park.

Let us never forget who these warmists are and were... the people who said they would convene a new Nuremberg trial for "deniers"... the people who said they would put those who disagreed with them up against the wall ... the people who intended to deny us of livelihood and property for their not-so-great god Ba'al Gaia... and will try to do so given an opportunity.

It's not their hollering climate change that pisses me off. It's their prononcement that WE are the problem in need of solution.

How did the peoples of Europe handle it when the King's men came around, stomping out their fires to cook with and keep warm, during that little ice age they had back when.

My natural gas bill incorporates the average temperature for the month in the billing cycle. This last month around Portland Oregon was about 8 degrees colder than the same month last year on the daily average.

And I love the fact that the warmists are completely schizo. While they're spouting doom and gloom about carbon dioxide emissions destroying the planet, Obama is lamenting that an imaginary woman named Kathy can't afford to turn up her thermostat and that she actually gets cold in the winter. They are totally disconnected from reality.

How to dance with alarmists -

A pioneering climate scientist with decades at Harvard and MIT, Lindzen sees his discipline as being deeply compromised by political pressure, data fudging, out-and-out guesswork, and wholly unwarranted alarmism. In a shot across the bow of what many insist is indisputable scientific truth, Lindzen characterizes global warming as “small and .  .  . nothing to be alarmed about.” In the climate debate—on which hinge far-reaching questions of public policy—them’s fightin’ words.

So when they find a bunch of carcasses of polar bears that froze to death, I fully expect that they'll claim they drowned or died of heat stroke.

I'll always take the side if engineers over scientists. Most engineers, myself included, didn't fall for the housing bubble hype or AGW hype. Engineers actually have to get results that match reality. Peoples lives depend on it. Imagine if an engineer's commercial jet 6 DOF simulation was as accurate as the climate model simulations ... He would be looking for a new job.

Both my electric and gas company do this. I suspect it mitigates angry phone calls complaining about the billing amount because many people don't really pay attention to usage. And for those people they will offer to bill you 10% more than you actually consume for the privilege of normalizing what you owe monthly.

Back in the early 90's there was a really big heat wave that came through Chicago and the news was reporting on the daily heat death count. When I asked my dad about it his response was "Well, every body that turns up without 6 bullet holes in it gets labeled heat related"

Anonymous Noah B. January 07, 2014 5:36 PM

For reasons most of you can probably guess, they've actually found a strong correlation between higher temperatures and higher crime rates. So I wouldn't put it past them to look at someone with 6 bullet holes in them and call it death by climate change.

Anthony Watts of wattsupwiththat.com was asked to provide weather forecasting to assist in the rescue. I realize he did the civil, gracious thing by assisting. But given the way he has been treated...indeed, how warmists treat 'deniers' in general and how they talk about wanting to treat us...if I were in his shoes I would have told them to pound snow.

As he predicted, a shift in winds has created an opening and the trapped ships are now making progress towards open ocean. It looks like the Polar Star won't be needed after all.

Hilarious that a ship of climate change scientists can't predict a few days in advance to avoid becoming trapped in sea ice. But a "climate change denier" can save their butts with accurate predictions.

Joshua: It's something similar with hurricanes. I live in the South (given, since I'm so awesome, I know), and every year since Katrina they've predicted an above average year... and only once (the year directly after) were they right.

The lack of storms is evidence of global warming.
A lot of storms is evidence...
A strong storm is evidence...
Everything points to AGW!

Even though if you look at years with bad hurricanes they tend to be spaced pretty evenly:
Katrina (2005), Andrew (1992), Frederic (1979) -- all 13 years apart. Camille was ten years before Freddie. So maybe, just maybe -- there's an Atlantic hurricane cycle that is about 10-15 years long, and has a high for 1-3 years before a lull.

But that doesn't fit the "science." Even though as far back as we have records this seems to hold, for the US at least. Further south/closer to the equator, there's both more chance of warmer water and less civilization/evacuation potential, so fatalities will be higher from normal seasons.

Or maybe Kanye was right; a lot of those nations are populated with blacks, and Bush hates them AND controls the weather machine!

Blogger Joshua Dyal January 07, 2014 7:29 PM

It's roughly as warm now as it was in the thirties. And the Medieval Warm Period, when serfs in Engerland were no doubt driving around in their big SUVs destroying the climate. Still needs to warm considerably to be as warm as the last interglacial, the Sangamonian/Eemian.

Clearly actual weather has nothing whatsoever to do with the warmists' agenda. Rather, it's their cult of action and movement, which require constant manufactured crises, and seizure of control and freedom and the growth of the government.

In regards to 'settled science' and 'consensus', and that no one in his right mind should be skeptical, I give you this great quote from astronomer Cliff Stoll. Though he was not talking about climate issues, and I have no idea what his views on this issue are, his statement about his physics background teaching him to be skeptical when everyone is not is something the warmists need to be told. They think they are science realists and anyone not on board is anti-science. But in reality skepticism is healthy.

Here is the moment in the video where Cliff makes this great point.

Business Week helpfully explains it all. As AGW has made the Earth so much hotter, the warm air has pushed into the Arctic and tipped over the Polar Vortex which is spilling frigid air across America right now. It's colder because it's warmer.

You know you've reached the Retrograde Motion Stage Of Bad Theory Repair when you must invent a Polar Vortex to explain why Global Warming really is occurring . . . despite record low temperatures.

The funny, yet unfortunate thing is the ship is lost. It is being crushed by ice. It was initially surrounded by not too much ice, now 12km of ice even to get to it. It was some kind of flash freeze. I think you will see the crew abandoning ship in the near future and the ship lost. But I am no maritime expert. However I know a cluster f**k when I see one. argues that adult women should be treated the same as underage girls?
"If you take the example of underage girls, whether she “sought” the PIV or not doesn’t change the fact it counts legally as rape, because it is understood that the girl has been manipulated and groomed and she is not acting under her own volition, she is doing that because of fear of retaliation or consequences if she doesn’t comply or please him. If you can understand that, why can’t you understand that the dynamics are EXACTLY the same for adult women?".

okay, the next time anybody dates a feminist tell her that tonight she's taking it PIA and PIM. because you're a feminist too and wouldn't disrespect her by putting it in her vagina.

also, tell her dildos IV are verboten from here on out. because that simulates PIV intercourse which is always rape, therefore a dildo is a rape simulation toy. even if used by a lesbian.

They never stop.

Michael Mann, the Penn State climatologist who has often been at the center of the fights over global warming, accused climate skeptics of using “discredited talking points” in hopes of “hijacking the serious conversation we need to have about how we are going to deal with the very real risks of climate change.”

Mann told POLITICO that much of the news media’s weather coverage has put the chill in the proper context — showing that record heat incidents are outpacing record cold temperatures by a 3-to-1 margin, and that this past November was the warmest on record for that month.

Still, he said, it’s all too easy to wield a single piece of evidence to try to prove a point.

“In our discourse in this issue we do unfortunately all too often fall for the fallacy that lies in the signal data point, the cherry-picked statistic, rather than focus on the larger picture,” he said. That larger picture, he said, was that climate change was occurring, and it represents a major threat if not addressed.

Sure, Mike, tell us all how you shouldn't draw conclusions from a single data point[cough]Yamal![/cough].

Time Mag's Climate Deception

Here's what Time magazine had to say about the now infamous "polar vortex" during the great ice age scare in June 1974: "Scientists have found other indications of global cooling. For one thing there has been a noticeable expansion of the great belt of dry, high-altitude polar winds -- the so-called circumpolar vortex -- that sweep from west to east around the top and bottom of the world." Four decades later, they're using the same argument as evidence of global warming. On Monday Time claimed, "[I]t may well be that global warming could be making the occasional bout of extreme cold weather in the U.S. even more likely. Right now much of the U.S. is in the grip of a polar vortex, which is pretty much what it sounds like: a whirlwind of extremely cold, extremely dense air that forms near the poles." Whatever fits the narrative.

What can one say?

Vox sez, “We'll stop rubbing your face in the unseasonably cold WEATHER this winter...”.

Winter is the cold season, in this hemisphere. So winter has seasonably cold weather.

“And when a ship full of moronic "climate scientists" gets stuck in supposedly nonexistent ice, understand that we're going to give you some stick.”

Supposed by whom? Not these scientists who went there specifically to study ice shelves. Scientists do not claim the polar ice caps are gone. Yet.

You do realize that the united states does not represent the entire world, right? You also do realize that many countries in the southern hemisphere are experiencing record warmth, right?

You're either dishonest or dumb, can't tell which.
