Dems to the Frankengroper: resign

The Democrats have finally concluded that it is time for (((Al Franken))) to resign:
Fourteen Democratic senators and the DNC chief urged Sen. Al Franken to resign Wednesday following the latest sexual misconduct allegation against him. After the resignation calls, Franken's office said the senator would make an "announcement" on Thursday. It didn't elaborate.

Earlier Wednesday, Politico reported that a former Democratic congressional aide is accusing the Minnesota Democrat of forcibly trying to kiss her 11 years ago, adding to a string of allegations against him. In a statement before the calls for his resignation started, Franken denied the latest accusation against him.

In a succession of statements Wednesday, 14 of Franken's Senate Democratic colleagues — nearly a third of the party's caucus — pushed for him to step down. Among them was Patty Murray of Washington, the third-ranking Senate Democrat.
Although it would be advantageous to Republicans if Franken tried to run for re-election, it would be even more satisfying to see the nasty little creep forced to resign in disgrace. His election was fraudulent and he never should have even been nominated by the DFL in the first place.

He hasn't twisted in the wind enough for my taste. Why can't the Al Franken drama drag on into 2018? Moar denials, moar groveling! Then only after the primaries, resignation and the trip to rehab for "sex addiction".

That would be entertainment and a fitting end to his political career.

Biggest problem is taking advantage of this. The Governor will likely appoint a Dem as a replacement, and I'm not clear on the political aspects of Minnesota to know if a Populist (i.e. pro Trump) candidate can be viable.

It is also unclear if the voter fraud machine has been even looked at, much less attacked and damaged, since the circumstantial evidence very strongly suggests that he was fraudulently placed in office.

Anonymous Looking Glass December 06, 2017 1:44 PM

I'd agree with some of the analysis that Frakenstein had decided to resign before something else comes out and they're now just coordinating for "points". They'll want to use it against Trump & Moore and the GOP in general, but that dog isn't going to hunt going forward.

7 Thucydides.

The most visible possibilities are Tina Smith (Lt. Gov), Lori Swanson (att. gen.) and Rebecca Otto (Auditor). Mark Dayton (a trust fund baby) is governor - there will be no populist on the list, and I predict a woman will be named.

Of course our most-esteemed governor could surprise me and appoint one of the blacks in his cabinet. I think the possibility of a Somali being appointed is vanishingly remote - not even Dayton could be that stupid.

The Democratic Senators calling for Franken to resign for his sex crimes should write "an open letter to the women of SNL" condemning them for enabling and defending sexual assault.

But the cash, the cold hard cash:

“I just want you to let you know that Harvey’s a rapist and this is going to come out at some point,” Dunham claims she told the Clinton campaign’s deputy communications director, Kristina Schake. “I think it’s a really bad idea for him to host fundraisers and be involved, because it’s an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault.”

Another prominent Clinton supporter, former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown warned a member of Clinton’s team about Weinstein as early as 2008, according to the Times. “I was hearing that Harvey’s sleaziness with women had escalated since I left Talk in 2002 and she was unwise to be so closely associated with him,” Brown said.

It was blatant voter fraud. I'd like to say that had the Democrats not been in control of government then those involved in the (((Franken))) stolen election would have done some jail time, but alas, I know that the Republicans would have been too devoid of balls. The first thing conservatives do when they have a crook from the Democrats dead to rights is rationalize why they should not do any prison time, or even really be punished at all. In other words, they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I'm still pissed off at that stolen election because it was so obvious. Keep recounting till you finally manufacture a fraudulent lead with just enough votes found in a car trunk (that ain't suspicious at all). Then have the corrupt state political machine verify the election without any further recounts allowed for the opponent, nor any serious investigation.

All of that to then shove the Obamacare individual mandate up my ass like the tyrants that they are. I will never, ever see a leftist as anything other than a subhuman piece of shit after that, though I never had a very high opinion of them once I was old enough to understand them.

Actually this does hurt them pretty badly. They were hoping this would blow over because Franken has been quite the money making machine for his party in terms of fundraising.

Aging Boomers with money loved getting Emails from Al Franken. He was one of them and they knew it.

And fundraising is everything in the Swamp.

So how does a congress critter get on a committee?

Well, naturally they volunteer their services based on their extra-governmental work experience and expertise. They are then assigned to the various committees on the basis of their professional competence in order... In order to...

Ha Ha Ha... gasp...wheez...gasp Ha Ha HA

(*wipes eyes*) Nope, couldn't do it. Could not keep a straight face. It's money of course.

To be precise it's campaign contributions the congress critter in question brings to his/her/xit's party. That is how the entire system works.... For both parties.

Bring in X amount of campaign contribution dollars and you more or less buy your way on to a committee. The higher the amount you bring in, the more important the committee seat you can purchase.

Both sides use this system.

Franken made more than enough in funding to spread the love on Capital Hill. It was making him a kingmaker.

And now he will suffer the Earl of Warwick's fate.

Anonymous krymneth December 06, 2017 3:35 PM

The response prescribed in SJWs Always Lie is best used when you've been falsely accused. At this point there probably isn't a response for Frankengroper that keeps him in office. Even just stubbornly standing his grounds might just subject him, and by extension his party, to the spectacle of a recall election.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dayton moved Ellison into the Senate and then had a special election just for Ellison's district. The way MN almost went for Trump, it'd be risking things to have a nobody Dem serve out Franken's turn, whereas Ellison (hate to say it) would be a shoo-in in a re-election.

Dems are slavering to have Frankenstein removed, so that he can be replaced by the Dem governor with another Democrat, who (they hope) won't be tainted and will get re-elected in the next Senate election.

As others have pointed out, Al only snuck in by the skin of his teeth, and with the help of lots of helpful "recounts," i.e. voter fraud.

Now that his true light is shining brightly, they see that if they don't get rid of him he'll definitely lose to virtually any Republican. What a pickle they're in! Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch!

The recount was fought hard. It wasn't pretty. And lasted until June of 2009 through the MN supreme court.

Now bear in mind that Senator Norm Coleman was a "moderate" and it *was* 2008. Coleman would have won handily under normal circumstances. And Dean Barkley (Paul Wellstone's postumous and temporary replacement in the Senate in 2002) ran as an independent sucking off 15% of the vote.

The election was damned close - a few hundred votes apart. That's damned tiny compared to several million votes. I expected Franken to win the recount because it's Minnesota.

I think there was fraud involved, but good luck proving it.

As has been explained here before, the Repuke party has willingly obeyed a consent decree first issued in 1983 to not oppose obvious vote-fraud carried out in D-jersey fiefdoms (because holy dindu). There have been numerous, documented outrageous cases of vote-fraud for years (polls held open for hours, machine shenanigans, more votes cast than registered voters in county, etc.), which rival tales from places like Zimbabwe in their sheer brazenness. These are never taken to court by the Repukes, even when the results might actually count. In many cases, it would make little difference as the non-whites vote overwhelming D-jersey regardless. It's a decree issued by a lower-level district court in NJ as I recall. Obviously, this is yet additional proof that the Gay Old Pedos are merely a fake opposition party, and have been thus for a very long time.

The Frankengroper has been told to be a good boy and use the short sword.

Al Franken, who successfully made the jump from Saturday Night Live funnyman to media personality to United States senator, announced on Thursday that he's leaving his seat "in the coming weeks" following a three-week-long wave of sexual misconduct allegations against him that saw his support in the chamber vanish.

Franken was defiant in his speech and pushed back on how he's been characterized in media reporting about the allegations against him, which include forced kissing and non-consenual touching.

"I know there’s been a very different picture of me painted over the last few weeks, but I know who I really am," Franken said on the Senate floor. "Serving in the U.S. Senate has been the great honor of my life. I know in my heart that nothing I have done as a senator, nothing, has brought dishonor on this institution."

Franken repeated in his speech that "some of the allegations against aren't true," but said that women need to be listened to and believed.

On Wednesday, more than 30 of Franken's Democratic colleagues in the Senate said publicly that he should step down, only a few hours after Politico reported the story of a woman who said Franken tried to kiss her in 2006, bragging that "it's [his] right as an entertainer."

Franken refused to speculate about his possible resignation during a press conference on Nov. 27, following a wave of allegations that began three weeks ago with a stunning story — and photographic evidence — of bad behavior shared by broadcaster Leeann Tweeden.

Franken apologized to Tweeden and to the other women who said he touched and kissed them without their consent, but pledged to continue in the Senate and "get back to work."
