The devils misquote Scripture

It's always so pathetic when non-Christians, fake Christians, and ignorant Christians try to play the Quote-the-Bible game. Do they truly not realize that it is trivially easy to disprove their false claims?
So the GOP which long claimed "christian values" has now fully gone in on everything Jesus warned us against - greed, hypocrisy, division, and lack of compassion for the vulnerable. Wow. I wonder if they can get a refund on their bibles.
- Matthew Dowd
Fascinating stuff coming from a two-time divorcee and current adulterer, just to name two things Jesus actually warned his followers against. More importantly, Jesus absolutely did not warn against "division", to the contrary, he told us that he brought it.
Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.
- Luke 12:51-53
And is it not strange, how these self-styled New Testament scholars in the media never seem to mention that Jesus also warned against Jews who reject him and named them sons of the devil who are not of God.
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”
- John 8:42-47
Many people like to speak for Jesus Christ. Some of them may even mean well. But I don't think it is wise to falsely attribute one's own words to the Son of God. Especially when one considers how his words have resounded throughout history and given shape to the past, present, and future.

Next up: a hot take on how the miracle of loaves and fishes was a metaphor for socialism.

Anonymous Alice De Goon December 02, 2017 7:49 PM

Speaking of the Salt generated by the GOP tax plan, every r-selected artist I know or read about is lamenting that this plan will take away their ability to deduct their business expenses. I'm not sure if this is accurate (I read on a forum somewhere that this rule only affects artists who work for actual employers, not those who are self-employed fully, but I have no clue. Any artists/self-employed want to weigh in on that?)

MPCdotcom has a thread devoted to the Tax Plan - who it benefits, who it hurts, and why Trump would support it:

Molyneux also just dropped his analysis of the Tax Plan:

@1 SciVo

Here's a fun one. It relates to some other work I'm doing, but I've been able to define the rhetorical appeal Socialism/Communism in self-interest terms. And explain why it's so Demonic.

Taking theoretical Communism (the "But real Communism has never been tried!" crowd), the only way a system built like that can be optimized to not collapse in on itself rapidly is if the central authority is Omniscient and Omnipresent. The Christian God is the only definable force that approaches the level of energy expenditure capable of sustaining that type of stuff, as the "Central Authority" has to make billions of decisions per day to keep even 100,000 people from starving.

So, at the first-order of self-interest, for the poor, Socialism offers Free Stuff. For the Rich, it fluffs their desire to be their own god. For most Women, Revolutionaries tend to be murderous and the Revolution offers unlimited supplies to them, which means it's Alpha F***/Beta Bucks on absolute steroids.

That's all to say we've made a centuries long trek right back to Genesis 3, for there, truly, is nothing new under the Sun.

Yeah, Satan can. So can his demons. But his human followers, not so much. "You right wingers are killers! Your Bible says Thou shalt not kill!" Except it doesn't. It says thou shalt do no murder. They do not know the difference between manslaughter and murder. "You right wingers are haters! Your Bible says you're supposed to love everyone! Even LGBTUVWXYZ people!" Except it doesn't. God never said to love his enemies. He even said there were humans that he hated.

For liberals, Christianity, like all religions, is a buffet that allows you to choose what you want to believe and ignore the rest. Liberals, who somehow don't know the difference between male and female, have the divine wisdom to see through all the errors of Christianity and incorporate what they choose into their own infallible religion. When I see some carpet munching mainstream Christianity minister declaring that Christ is only a symbol of what we should be and is not really divine, I know I am hearing someone with a "depraved mind" that the Book of Romans talks about:

"they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. And they worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is God blessed forever."

I assume that Dowd's ranting about the tax plan. Half the population in this country views April 15th as a payday, and still will, yet we lack compassion in his view? The pride and arrogance built in to such a view is staggering to behold. Compassion flows only through central redistribution -- AND, according to MY calculus ALONE!!!!

He is sickening.

I would counsel him to re-read the Book of Job, taking note how God is not impressed with Job's suffering, nor his knowledge. But of course he would scoff at that, I'd imagine.

A lot of the idiotic ideas in American Evangelical Christianity, such as letting in the Muslim population and letting the power of the Holy Spirit convert them into Americanized Evangelicals, are not really classic Christian ideas as much as Americanized Christian-style ideas.

When throwing verses of Scripture at people, you might want to check to see if the church fathers, church doctors, or reformers ever held to your intended interpretation. If they did not, you are probably screwing something up.

"Everything Jesus warned us against" turns out to be everything one advocates for on the Current Year (without being specific enough to cause obvious anachronisms) in the hands of certain people. But that I said, that if warring were right, I would rather take the field against the so-called Christians, who persecute, apprehend and kill pious Christians, than against the Turks, was for this reason: The Turk is a true Turk, knows nothing of the Christian faith; and is a Turk after the flesh; but you, who would be Christians, and who make your boast of Christ, persecute the pious witnesses of Christ, and are Turks after the spirit." ~Michael Sattler

Proverbs should be ingrained in one's psyche, among numerous other instructions from the Book. One needs to feel as comfortable with biblical teaching as one is putting on their shoes, with regular exposure to various teachings.

Cuck or martyr?

One really, really confused puppy.

You cannot interpret "Thou shalt not kill" without excluding from your understanding of "kill" any killing God directly commanded.

God cannot contradict himself. Sort of a basic starting point.

Every command of scripture is best interpreted by the actions and instructions of the one who commanded it, not by our personal twist on a particular Greek or Hebrew word.

I'd say he was ignorant and was virtue-signaling.

Sure, thou shalt not kill, but didn't God also order the Israelites to kill the Canaanites down to every man, woman, child, elderly, and farm animal and to spare absolutely nothing of them?

He's also dead wrong on Muslims (I'm assuming he talks of Muslims since, for those unaware, 'Turk' was once old slang that referred to all Muslims). Muslims are keenly aware of Christianity and are taught to be aggressively hostile to many of its teachings. The concept of "shirk" (ie. belief in the trinity), for instance, is considered to be the gravest of sins in Islam. The Koran also goes out of its way to deny the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

Spcialists, in general, tend to be the thin edge of the subversion wedge for one simple reason; socialism attempts to justify Christian ethics as a governing ethos (in contrast to the Christian’s personal voluntary commitment) and philosophically attempts this justification without resort to a God who has built his moral character into the very fabric of existence.

So socialists sidle up to unwary Christians like a pretty snake in a garden, whispering about how they’re really the same as us, how our codes are so similar, if only we’d move a little in their direction.

But coercive collective power is not the same as individual personal choice, and never can be. Lassaiz faire morality can never be compatible with God’s eternally fixed character.

Blogger Snidely Whiplash December 03, 2017 3:17 AM

One of the features of Christendom was the divine right of Kings. That has been discarded.

The "Divine Right of Kings" has never been a feature of Christendom. It was an innovation imported from the Orient, and in the few places it took hold (mostly France), it was discarded, along with the monarchy, in a couple of hundred years.
Granted, there were many who argued for a dictatorial king, mostly royals and their corrupt hangers-on. You will note that those places that even tried to adopt it as law or custom have subsequently had to do without the services of a king.

Any literate theologian, Catholic or Protestant, would tell you that the assertion of any such right is in itself a heresy and a sacrilege, and a great many did so when the idea was current.

The devils offer another lesson to the Christian.

James wrote that “the devils believe and tremble.”

We saw example of this in the conversation between Christ and those he sent into the herd of swine.

But belief of this sort is not of use because it does not lead to obedience. It’s a belief in the power of God but disbelief in his character which is both mercy and justice.

The Christian who says “just believe” ihas not read or believed.

There is an objective process with which one comes to conclusions. This should be essential instruction at the college level, even high school. Unfortunately, cultural marxism, feminism and other pseudo-science has elevated emotion beyond its deserved place.

The age-old question seems is in two parts:

1. Should mankind strive for a peaceful, perfect world without any struggle or conflict, or should it accept some level of violence in order to make things work?

2. one's position on item #1 requires a sound, workable and testable ideology that instills a balance between mercy and justice, protects rights against dilution and corruption, and respects the sovereignty of personal belief as long as they promote 'the good.'

VD is already demonstrating it. Part 1, SJWs' claim to the moral high ground is not just weak but provably false, so mock them mercilessly. Part 2, lay the groundwork with advocacy for the People's actually self-expressed needs, as opposed to the ones that the SJWs want to impose on them. Part 3, real Christianity also claims the moral high ground, and with infinitely greater justification, so strut your stuff and mock SJWs some more; there is nothing they can do but puff and bluster.

The Establishment wants to strike a pose as generous with your money, while mocking your heritage; we want to protect both your money and your heritage from them, the devils that they are. And SJWs are on their side.

Reminds me of a story I heard from an hotel employee who was called upon by Orthodox Jewish guests to come up and flush their toilets on the Sabbath, since the Jews were barred from "working." Nevermind that servants are supposed to rest on the Sabbath, too...

That is pure exploitation of the concept of the Shabbos goy, and a sign that they see themselves as his master. Is he a serf or an American? He should say no, and cite the Pervnado for why not to flush a Jew's poo. It's pervy.

Whenever you want to cure yourself from overt humanistic softness, remind yourself: "I serve God who in His righteous will drowned almost the entire mankind. Deal with it."

That is how Martin Luther, for example, responded to peasants who were planning uprisng in 1525 Germany:

http://www.godrules.net/library/luther/NEW1luther_d17.htm

"Learn from this how to judge yourselves; and accept this kindly warning. For Him Who once drowned the whole world in the Flood and sank Sodom with fire, it is a simple thing to slay or to defeat so many thousand peasants. He is an almighty and terrible God."

Sends more likely to me that it was, indeed, a miracle of sharing. I'm not saying the Almighty lacks the power, but I'm skeptical of the idea that he reveals his message by throwing samwiches at Jews.

That said - it was a miracle, just the same. Of anarcho-socialism, if you like. The Roman state ruled by distracting the populace from the fact of their own destructive mis-rule with bread & circuses, a lone preacher proclaiming inconvenient truths, without gory spectacles & free grub, could only be described as a revolutionary, in a way that statist leftists have never been able to claim.

Definitely a cuck. Possibly a martyr as well. The fact that he was totally wrong about the Christian responsibility to defend the innocent from rape, murder, and enslavement does not mean that he did not die for his faith in Jesus, however misguided he was on foreign policy.

Thanks. As I stated I have sympathies with Sattler but being far less a pacifist I can't imagine having my wife drowned in the river without a fight.

Isn't dialing the phone as much work as flushing?

@52 He failed to include vindictiveness in his list. Its particularly heartwarming to see how state/local property taxes - greater than $10,000 will no longer be deductible. Such a threshold will spare the "flyover " portions of the northeast ( upstate NY and northern New England) financial pain while crushing the leftists living in VT, Mass,CT, NJ and the southern portions of NY and NH. Talk about exacting revenge. Nothing is sweeter than seeing prog-libs financially suffer. But I'm sure they wont mind after all its going to help "the children " and the " disenfranchised."

Well, I think this is a bad approach. Trump won with the >$75,000 income earning demographic, and this tax plan disproportionately punishes his own people, just because they live in a "blue state".

At the end of the day, a tax cut that results in higher taxes than the Obama era for upper-middle class workers isn't going to go down so well. It's almost like a Goldman Sachs idiot wrote this bill.

And before somebody cries about how high taxes are in blue states, look at the fact that the federal government confiscates far, far more than a typical blue state, despite providing practically no services.

Since they won't vote for a republican anyway, what does Trump care or any republican care? Maybe they should talk to their state and local legislatures about those high tax rates instead?

Is this an extension of 4GW of people moving against the core structure of Christendom? The Inquisitor was the counterinsurgent of the 16th Century. Their system was corrupt and they failed. The significant difference to me is that the Reformers actually had some respect for the Bible.

And what of the Christian who promotes miscreation, homosexuality or malignant gender roles?

We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

And:

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

And:

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

And:

For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

And:

They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.

It's almost like you didn't read anything I wrote.

1. If only income earners making at least $75,000 or more had voted, Trump would have won in a landslide, and would have won the popular vote by 2-3%, according to exit polls. People don't seem to understand that blue states are blue because of blacks and Hispanics.

2. My state and local taxes combine to about 9% of income. My federal income tax rate is 25%. Which do you think is the bigger problem here? Note that my state and local taxes provide me with a police department, fire department, schools, roads, traffic signs and signals, bridges, rail, landfills, libraries, a court system and unemployment insurance among many other things that I use on a daily basis. What do my federal taxes get me? Wars in Afghanistan?

> It's almost like you didn't read anything I wrote.

It's far more like what you wrote doesn't mean what you think it means.

The state and local tax removal, and the mortgage deduction doesn't hit high income earners. It hits people in high property value and high tax areas. Areas like New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and DC. People who voted for Hillary by something like three to one.

> My state and local taxes combine to about 9% of income. My federal income tax rate is 25%. Which do you think is the bigger problem here?

And your federal tax rate will either stay the same or drop. What you'll lose is your exemption for the 9% state and local tax.

> Note that my state and local taxes provide me with a police department, fire department, schools, roads, traffic signs and signals, bridges, rail, landfills, libraries, a court system and unemployment insurance among many other things that I use on a daily basis.

Then you obviously have no problem paying for them. So what's your problem again? That you can't have people from other states subsidize them for you?

But feel free not to vote for Trump next time. I'm sure that will make a big difference in the electoral college totals.

Speaking for Jesus improperly is literally "taking the Lord's name in vain." Many people think it means cursing or using words like Goddamn. But speaking falsely on behalf of God is a much more serious offense than uttering a curse word.

People should read Hebrews 10:31 "It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God." We need more "fear of God" in our lives.

Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

It is not wrong to speak on behalf of God. After all, Romans 10:14-15 says, "How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who [a]bring good news of good things!”

But Jesus was not a Social Justice Warrior. Trying to twist his words to fit a left-wing political agenda is taking his name in vain, and God notices those things.

"Modern Judaism is not the Judaism that is portrayed in the OT."

There was no Judaism in the Old Testament, because Judaism is Talmud, and the HEBREWS had not been carried off into Babalonia yet.

And the religion of the Old Testament was Hebrew, *NOT* Judaism.

EVERYTHING makes more sense
once you get that through your head.

There is not a single Synagogue mentioned in the entire Old Testament. Jesus said refers to "...the Synagogue of Satan"

Not temple

Synagogue.

Started reading the NT last night. Working through Matthew and there was a lot of stuff like this. A lot of quotes that I'd heard before, but hearing them one after the other, there's a lot of very difficult concepts in the NT.

As Mountain Man says above: it is a very "offensive" text, and not just kumbaya.

Its NOT modern Judaism. But its still Judaism of the pure sort that Moses and Abraham observed before it was corrupted by the time of Jesus. Christianity IS the fulfilment of Ancient Judaism.

And yet there are mentions of them which aren't in reference to Satan:

(KJV) Luke 4:14 & 15:
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
